Using Hip Hop to Teach Kids Wow!!

October 3, 2008 By Word on the Streets Magazine

Music Producer Alex Nesmith & partner Christine Smith brings unconventional learning to classrooms

Music Producer Alex Nesmith and his partner Christine Smith, who’s a former school teacher has combined their talents to create Smart Shorties Hip Hop Multiplication CD. Parents and teachers across the country are thrilled about this CD. It’s one of the most unconventional, fun and creative ways of teaching children their multiplication tables through popular music. This method has proven to be successful during pilot studies utilizing the Smart Shorties Hip Hop Multiplication CD in a few of our nations lowest performing schools. After using the CD those students math scores rose significantly.

Each song is inspired by popular artists heard on the radio everyday such as Soulja Boy, Jim Jones, Chris Brown, T-Pain and Mims among others.
